Lang & Heyne Hektor Watches

Lang & Heyne introduces its first ever Steel wristwatch.

BY DHANANJAY PATHAK

We at WristReview are big fans of German watches. And while we love what brands like Nomos and A. Lange & Söhne bring to the table, we are also quite fond of some not-so-well-known brands such as Lang & Heyne whose elegant watches are a testimony to the traditional craft of German watchmaking. The latest addition to the Lang & Heyne catalog is the Hektor, the brand’s first-ever wristwatch in stainless steel.

Featuring a stainless-steel construction, the case on the Hektor measures 40mm in diameter and has a thickness of just 10.95mm, which implies that it would easily slip under those cuffs. The case exhibits a mix of brushed and polished services and offers a water resistance of 50 meters which is good enough for a watch like this.

One interesting design detail is the way the case bulges outwards slightly on the left and is then balanced on the right by crown guards that surround the knurled crown at 3.

Presented in green, blue, and grey, the dial on this watch features a layered construction. Sitting on top of the dial you first have a chapter ring with finely printed minute graduations in white. Moving inwards and a step below is another chapter ring that features circular graining and houses the beautifully polished and lume filled hour indices. And finally, at the bottom of the dial, is another textured surface that features a distinctive pattern and houses the centrally mounted hand stack and a small opening above 6, which gives a partial view of the movement that powers this watch.

Beating inside the Hektor is the brand’s in-house calibre 33.2. This movement is manually wound and operates at a frequency of 3 Hz. It is made from steel and Arcap and offers a power reserve of around 46 hours. The movement is beautifully finished and exhibits fine brushing and hand beveling throughout and can be appreciated through the exhibition case back.

The new Lang & Heyne Hektor is limited to 33 pieces per color and each watch would come attached to a stainless-steel bracelet. The retail price has been set at EUR 16,900.
