Back in 2016, one of the most interesting diver watch that most collectors talked about was the super cool Seiko PADI editions of the Seiko Prospex watches. I remember that its colors played with the combinations of blue and red and they were simply awesome. Now as is and as always have been, new never-before-seen editions of super-cool Seiko Prospex watches are circulating again in the horology world with the colors of a Blue Lagoon. Check your Instagram feed and you’ll see and probably share in the excitement that I’m feeling right now. Note that these pieces are just a preview of what Seiko has to offer in Baselworld 2017, exciting times ahead!

In this Seiko Prospex watches, we’re mainly talking about the two models for this collection the “Turtle” and the “Samurai” editions. Price-wise and spec-wise, they’re almost the same but the big difference lies on the design atmosphere of each edition, one caters to the classic design using the turtle case while the other one showcases the modern side of the watch using an angular case. Both of which are awesome and I’m pretty sure that serious collectors out there would want to have both.

Seiko Prospex Turtle SRPB11 Blue Lagoon

The Seiko Prospex Turtle SRPB11 Blue Lagoon sports a 45mm stainless steel case. This looks larger mainly because of the turtle design which is a very classic iteration of the Seiko Prospex. It comes in brushed and polished finish though plus the screw caseback comes with a nice LIMITED EDITION marking which looks really nice. Throw in a hardened mineral glass and a 200m water resistance is pretty much attained easily. Its bi-color rotatable bezel mixes deep blue and light turquoise blue in a perfect way much like the essence of a lagoon. The blue dial retains its pattern which plays a lot with ambient light as well as the white and silver indexes and hands. It’s powered by an in-house calibre 4R36 with day and date feature sporting 41 hours of power reserve.

Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPB09 Blue Lagoon

Next is the more modern Seiko Prospex Samurai SRPB09 Blue Lagoon with its particular angular shape. The brushed stainless steel case appears smaller at 43.8mm thanks to its streamlined design. It also sports a screw caseback with LIMITED EDITION marking and a hardened mineral glass. It has the same water resistance of 200m. Of the 2 editions, the Prospex Samurai is the better diver mainly because of its luminous dial, larger hands, and a more technical rotatable bezel. Its in-house automatic movement, calibre 4R35 features time and date and delivers a nice serving of 41 hours of power reserve.

Both editions of the Seiko Prospex watches come with a 3-link steel bracelet. It has a three-fold clasp with a secure lock and a push button release with extender for easy adjustment. They will be available to the public by March 2017 with the Seiko Prospex Turtle retailing at 530EUR while the Seiko Prospex Samurai at 480EUR. For more info, please visit seikowatches.com
