Introducing The Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar Watch With Rose Opaline Dial And Steel Case

BY DHANANJAY PATHAK

The Pano collection from Glashütte Original blends traditional German craftsmanship with modern design ethos to create a unique timekeeping experience. Not so long ago the Teutonic brand added a beautiful blue dial/pink case version of the Panomatic Lunar to the Pano collection. And now the latest expression of elegance and finesse from the brand comes in the form of the new Panomatic Lunar (Reference 1-90-02-12-32-01), a watch with a sexy Salmon dial.

Let’s begin by talking about the striking dial of this watch. Presented in Opaline Rose, the face of this watch has a charming warmth to it which is accentuated further by several blue elements that are present in good measure across the dial. And while there is plenty of elegance and romanticism on offer, unlike dress watches in general that prefer to remain understated, thanks to its unique layout, the Panomatic Lunar firmly believes in making its presence felt. The asymmetrical layout consists of two sections. On the left are two overlapping circular displays – hours/minutes on the top and running seconds at the bottom, to take care of the general timekeeping. And on the right are two more displays – a beautiful moon phase indicator on the top and a big date window at the bottom. This setup gives the watch a distinctive visual identity making it stand out in the crowd.

The case on the Glashütte Original Panomatic Lunar Salmon is crafted from stainless steel. It has a diameter of 40mm which combined with the 12.70 should make for a watch that fits a variety of wrists. The case features a mix of satin-brushed and polished surfaces that complement the salmon dial and add to the graceful aesthetic of the watch. There are sapphire crystals on both the front and the back, and the watch is water-resistant to an acceptable 50 meters. Driving the watch is the brand’s in-house caliber 90-02. This is an automatic movement that operates at a frequency of 4Hz and offers a power reserve of around 42 hours. It has been exceptionally finished and features Glashütte stripes, blued screws, beveled edges, and a hand-engraved balance bridge to name a few and can be viewed through the exhibition case back.

The Glashütte Original Panomatic Lunar Salmon is a handsome looking watch that makes a strong style statement. The watch would retail for EUR 9,400 on blue alligator strap and EUR 10,800 on a steel bracelet.
