What happens when an Haute Horlogerie brand like Roger Dubuis joins hands with a well-known French street artist like Gully? It results in the creation of a unique timepiece like the new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Gully Monotourbillon Limited Edition that is a blend of Horological innovation and artistic creativity.

Like previously released Excalibur references, the dial on the new Gully Monotourbillon features a heavily open-worked dial which provides a great canvas for Gully to use his imagination. Gully has expressed his creativity on the star-shaped bridges using the famous single-line technique creating lettered tags with the help of microstructures filled with luminescent colored lacquer. At the 11 o’clock position, you can see the formation of a G. The line then moves towards 3 but changes direction halfway to partially design a Y. Formation of two L’s is visible between 4 and 6. And finally, Gully finishes things off by creating a U around the tourbillon. While the artwork is fascinating, this is, after all, a watch, and its main purpose is to tell the time, which, in this case, is made possible using two skeletonized hands along with applied hour markings and a minute track presented on the outer flange.

The dark grey DLC titanium case measures 42mm in diameter and features finely brushed and polished surfaces throughout. Sitting on top of the case is a sloped bezel with 24 triangular cutouts that give the watch a distinctive identity.

At the 3 o’clock position is a grippy crown nestled between the crown guards. The case is water-resistant to a healthy 100 meters and has a sapphire crystal on the front and the back.

Mechanical excellence on this watch comes in the form of the manually wound in-house calibre RD512. Ticking at 3 Hz, the RD512 offers an autonomy of around 72 hours using a single barrel visible between 12 and 1. Also visible at 7 is a Tourbillon that features carriages made in titanium which offers improved durability.

The new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Gully Monotourbillon Limited Edition comes attached to a 3D calf leather strap. The strap features a quick-release system for easy strap change. The watch is limited to just 8 pieces and the price is yet to be announced.
