BY JOVAN KRSTEVSKI

We’ve been excited to write about the Top 5 watches for this holiday season all year. 2020 wasn’t particularly a great year when it comes to horology and overall, considering the global pandemic and its implications on the world. But thankfully, 2021 was a better year in terms of horology compared to the dreaded 2020. It’s the end of 2021 and now It’s finally time to present all of you our top 5 picks from the sea of great timepieces. Having said that, let’s begin.

5. Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional Powermatic 80

The remarkable thing about this giant of a dive watch is how easily it carved a space in the wristwatch market with a low asking price. This is a professional dive watch through and in our opinion, it’s Tissot’s most comprehensive and best dive watch to date. Considering the features being offered here at the asking price, it’s hard to beat indeed.

RRP: €995

4. Bulgari Aluminium GMT Watch

If watches made of unconventional and uncommon metals is your thing then this watch is right up your alley. With all that unconventional metal combined with a matte blue dial, blue rubber bezel and strap with aluminium links, the result is a stunningly gorgeous wristwatch. Whereas the past model was smaller at 38mm, they upped the size in this one and at 40mm. The icing on the cake is the quick set date and GMT function.

3. The Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 9SA5 “Shirakaba” SLGH005

Grand Seiko’s name beats high when it comes to precision engineering. Grand Seiko’s new 9SA5 movement is a testament to that. It’s a hi-beat movement, which results in enhanced accuracy and greatly increased power reserve. Besides the great engineering of SLGH005, the aesthetics are supremely exquisite and elegant. It’s in quite a slim package of 40mm diameter and 11.7mm thickness.

RRP: $9,100

2. TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver

The Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver is a perfect dive watch. It’s your perfect companion in the depths of the ocean and on the street. Featuring all the nitty-gritty and the usual suspects of a good dive watch, like for instance the 300 m / 1000 ft water-resistance, or the very legible dial design with details as sharp as a knife’s edge. The 43mm DLC coated steel case and houses an automatic movement. It’s priced just right and this isn’t a watch that you can let it drift away from your attention.

RRP: $3350

1. Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 41.5mm

Last year in December, Oris launched their new Caliber 400, it was in a hefty 43.5mm case, but now this Caliber 400 is in Aquis Date and in a much more restrained size of 41.5mm. It’s a very welcomed addition for the watch enthusiasts who wanted to experience the Calibre 400 but didn’t want a large case. Along with an impressive five-day power reserve, Oris also did something amazing with the dials, releasing it in three absolutely gorgeous colors, Blue, Green, and Charcoal black.
