Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed in October and has been an annual event since 1985. Nancy G. Brinker, who pledged to her sister Susan G. Komen that she would eradicate the illness that took Susan’s life, founded the organization. The campaign’s aim is to engage as many people as possible in an effort to increase awareness and funding for life-saving research and support services. It gained popularity, and with each passing year, this campaign received more and more attention. The campaign didn’t face a shortage of partnerships; there are a large number of companies and organizations from all walks of life who partnered with this noble cause. Now Zenith has joined the ranks to partner with Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in bringing their latest offering to us, the Chronomaster Original Pink, with a pink dial, which is associated with the cause.

The classic design of the 1960s Zenith A386 family of timepieces served as the source of inspiration for the Chronomaster Original Pink. The watch comes in a 38mm stainless steel case which is considered a unisex size and the pink dial, is a representation of the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon made popular by Susan G. Komen in the 1990s. The brilliant pink color of the dial is without a doubt the watch’s most eye-catching design feature. The case is made from stainless steel and offers 5 ATM (50 meters) of water resistance.

The pink-toned sunray-patterned dial has centrally positioned hours and minutes with small seconds at 9 o’clock, a 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock, a 60-second counter at 3 o’clock, and 1/10th of a second central chronograph hand that makes one turn in 10 seconds. The faceted hour markers as well as the hands are rhodium-plated and coated with SuperLuminova SLN C1. A date window is present at 4:30 which has a beveled border of the same color as the dial.

Zenith Chronomaster Original Pink is powered by the automatic high-frequency chronograph caliber with 1/10th of a second measurement El Primero 3600. Boasting a 60 hours power reserve, it offers a stop-second mechanism and is furnished with a new star-shaped oscillating weight with satin finishings. The Zenith Chronomaster Original Pink is not a limited edition, but it will only be offered from October 1 to October 31 as part of the annual international Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign. Additionally, 20% of the proceeds from its sale will be given to Susan G. Komen, helping it in its mission to improve the lives of cancer patients worldwide. It retails for CHF 9,900.
